The Problem

Legacy interface hindering user productivity.

The original SMEDE platform was a classic enterprise "mess"—overwhelming data tables, inconsistent navigation, and high cognitive load. Legacy UI constraints led to fragmented user journeys, making simple tasks take twice as long as necessary. The business goal was clear: moderniSe the aesthetic while fundamentally simplifying how users interact with the system to reduce errors and training time.

The Approach

Standardizing through PrimeNG and UX Logic.

My approach centered on stripping away visual noise and establishing a rigorous hierarchy. I utilized the PrimeNG component library to standardize UI elements across the entire platform, ensuring every table, button, and input field followed the same logic. By mapping out existing user journeys, I was able to condense complex multi-step processes into single, intuitive views, significantly reducing the "click-depth" required for core tasks.

The Impact

From friction to flow.

The design system didn’t just improve visual consistency—it fundamentally changed how the product is built. It enabled much faster design-to-development handoff times, eliminated repeated design work, and established a scalable foundation. With the system in place, it unlocked the ability to explore Elli 2.0—a more modern, cohesive, and tech-driven product direction.
